From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as important members in the powerful family could assist the team reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
